Field of Greens

What says I'm ready for spring more than yellow and green?

When I was looking for a layering glitter, I found Sinful Colors and Wet N Wild with very similar looks. I only did one coat on a nail stick, but they look pretty similar. Wet N Wild Field of Greens obviously is more dense and Sinful Colors Call You Later has more golden glitter in it.

I'd say Wet N Wild Field of Greens is the winner here since you get more polish for the  same cost, and is cruelty free!

Jenny

It's been a little while since I've worn a Shimmer Polish. I sure love these, as long as I have a peel off base coat! Or Elmer's glue in a bottle, which is what I personally use.

Shimmer polishes are always a beautiful blend of base and glitter that go on fantastically (is that a word?) without any problems.

Delphinium

Delphinium is part of the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure collection. It's a lovely lilac grey, very neutral and flattering.

Color is lovely, just enough lilac to be feminine, enough grey to be business casual, and enough pastel to be delicate. The formula was a little runny so it liked to bleed into the cuticles and not stay put, but it's a creme so cleanup was pretty straight forward and easy to accomplish.

Be warned with any polish with a white base - they are harder to clean up since the white likes to be left behind and the color on the edges will become chalky and uneven so applying with a steady hand is better than acetone and a brush afterwards.

A silly picture to boot. It started chipping so I opted to try a monochromatic french tip manicure using Sally Hansen Lavendar Cloud. I think the colors look nice but the tips are waaayyyyy too thick. I shouldn't have used the polish brush to do them. My bad. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted, all three minutes of it!

Geometric Design

As much as I enjoy Barielle Smarty Pants Pink, I needed a little fun on top. I tried my hand at some geometric designs and it proved harder than I thought. Definitely need to practice.

Smarty Pants Pink

My nails have been recovering recently from being chopped off. I was at work and felt they were a little too long for what I was doing but I was in such a hurry I clipped them down shorter than I intended. I've been letting them grow out a little and felt like wearing something bright and cheerful.

Barielle Smarty Pants Pink is part of the Brilliant Colors Collection. It's a gorgeous warm pink creme that is opaque in two coats, but I used three out of habit.

Dries a little darker and brighter than in the bottle.

Fantastic formula, thick enough to be easy to use and doesn't run. Barielle is a great brand. Love every polish of theirs that I have!

What I'm Using

I saw this fun post and decided to have a go at it! My current products, and which ones I plan to keep. You will likely be seeing a lot of these in future Empties posts!

Shampoo and conditioner: Pantene Beautiful Lengths Conditioner. My shampoo varies between Pantene Beautiful Lengths Shampoo, The Generic Shampoo (Nexxuss knock off maybe?), Selsun Blue, and Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo.

Styling products: A brush and hair ties? I hardly ever fix my hair. If I do, I straighten it and use a heat protective spray.

Shower Gel: Dial Lavendar Twilight Jasmine

Body Moisturizer: Again, I'm using a couple of different ones to use them up since I've stockpiled them but it's generally a Bath & Body Works Velvet Tuberose, Twilight Woods, or Victoria's Secret Strawberries & Champagne.

Deodorant: Secret Clinical Strength Stress Response

Fake Tan: Don't fake tan.

Cleanser: Cetaphil Daily Cleansers for Oily Skin and Gentle. I alternate depending on how my skin is feeling (with my Clarisonic in the mornings in the shower).

Toner: Don't use it.

Exfoliator: My Clarisonic brush. I have a tub of St. Ive's exfoliating pads that I purchased accidently instead of a tub of their apricot scrub that I use intermittently but not faithfully.

Peel: Don't use them, but I should.

Mask: I don't generally do masks, but sometimes I'll use Queen Helene, the green clay mask. Sometimes.

Serum: Don't use.

Moisturizer: Again, finishing off some different ones. Cetaphil Daily Moisturizer with SPF and Bare Escentuals Moisturizer for Combination Skin. The BE one I've come back to a few times, which is surprising since I have such a hard time finding moisturizers that don't break me out or make me more oily.

Primer: Using up the end of my Rimmel 5-in-1. I haven't been priming much with the cold weather.

Foundation: Garnier BB Cream in Light/Medium for Oily Skin or Revlon ColorStay for Normal/Dry Skin

Concealer: Garnier Skin Renew Concealer or Make Up For Ever Lift Concealer in 3.

Powder: Sephora Matte Mineral Finishing Powder

Blusher: Milani Baked Blush in Rose D'Oro or Dulce Pink.

Bronzer: Rimmel in Sun Bronze.

Highlighter: Lime Crime Nymph.

Eyeshadow Primer/Base: Urban Decay Primer Potion. Enough said. Helps even out my eyelid and underneath my eye lid and keeps my concealer/foundation on all day without creasing.

Eyeshadows: I generally skip eyeshadows for my daily makeup but I generally have on hand Naked and Naked2 and a few other palettes by Urban Decay.

Eyeliner: Don't generally use it.

Curler: I think I have one from Revlon that I use sometimes. I don't use one on a daily basis.

Mascara: Maybelline The Falsies Flared in Black. My go to mascara. I will be changing this one out once I use it up since it's not cruelty free. I do like Urban Decay Super Curling Mascara, Blinc, and Hourglass.

Lashes: Just my own.

Lipstick: e.l.f. Seductive or e.l.f Charming depending on if I want warm or cool neutral. Or Burts Bees.

Lipgloss: I grab whatever is handy or a Revlon Lip Balm Stain.

Nail Color: Varies every day. As you can see on my blog!

If you do a blog post like this too, feel free to share your links below! I'd love to see!

Daddy's Girl

About a second after I took those awful pictures of Good To Grape, I covered it with Sinful Colors Daddy's Girl. It's a lovely dark purple jelly with pink glitter/flecks. Reminds me a lot of Blacklight Party by Wet N Wild. It needs a few coats to give it depth, but it's nice.

I'm not sure what blogger as done to the images but the color is a very dark almost black purple with pink lighting the inside of the polish.

Good To Grape. Ruined.

Damn you Seche Vite. When you're fresh, you're amazing. When you're a little old, you sure know how to ruin a great manicure.

sally hansen good to grape, sally hansen good to grape swatch, sally hansen good to grape nail swatch

The color, of course, is Sally Hansen Good To Grape, a beautiful blue toned purple creme with good coverage and only needed two coats, but I used three just because that's what I always use.

This, unfortunately, was covered as quickly as it dried. Ugh. I think I need to buy a new bottle or get a new top coat.

Any recommendations out there?

Happy New Year!

I know this is a little late, but Happy New Year! I rang in the new year asleep with pneumonia, so I'm hoping yours was better!

While my nails have been naked since Christmas (I know, I know...) I'm going through some older pictures while I get mine together, hopefully this weekend.

You may have noticed the page looks a little different. As much as I love glitter and purple, the old style was getting a little old. It'll likely go back later this month, but it feels nice to have lighter colors and a fresh space.

Hope all is well out there with ya'll!
