Patchwork Hearts

I've been trying to enjoy my nail polish recently and wear it a few days before taking it off. This latest one is driving me crazy with the air bubbles from my stupid top coat, so I thought a little nail art would distract me from the bubbles and bring new life to the manicure!

This design is based off Simply Rins' Heart Patches. Hers is much better executed but I liked mine. It's been awhile since I've done any kind of nail art so it was nice to try my hand at it again.

All Hail The Queen

I do love a good holo. I love a good neutral. So you can tell I'd love a good neutral polish with micro holo glitter. Butter London All Hail The Queen is a fabulous neutral light brown holo that never fails.

Cosmic Kiss

Barielle Cosmic Kiss is a fabulous bright medium blue leaning pink. Very summery and flattering. There was a time a few years ago before I got into nail polish that I wore a color similar to this nonstop on my toenails. I got quite a few compliments on this one!

Black and Blue, again

I finally got this pretty one on my nails - Sally Hansen Black and Blue from their Complete Salon Manicure collection. In daylight, it appears to just be a blackened teal, which is lovely on it's own, but when you get in a little darker light, that's when the multichrome really comes out to play.

Barielle Brilliant Colors

Barielle has done it again. They have another 5 pack of beautiful fun summer colors. This collection has more pigmented bright colors versus the lighter, more white based colors of Summer Brights. Both are great. I've been enjoying wearing them!

Everyday Minerals

You may or may not know I'm completely in love with Viola from Killer Colours. She's gorgeous and has the best blog - makeup, nails, perfume, tutorials, helpful tips - everything! She has a philosophy that makeup doesn't have to be perfect so her looks have a wonderfully wide range to them.

Anyway. Enough of my Ode to Viola...

She raves about the foundation brush by Everday Minerals and so I've given in and ordered one. Or two. They have a great kit you can order where you can order seven samples for one penny ( plus shipping) so I scooped up some samples.

Glow Girl

Milani Glow Girl is a gloss I picked up awhile back and could not figure out how to wear it. It's a fun blue-based pink; you could almost call it a light purple. I finally figured out I needed to wear a blue based pink blush with it on my yellow based skin or else it looks crazy. The rest of my face isn't much to write home about. It's been so hot here recently I am usually wearing nothing, and when I do, it's just something to even out my skin tone and some mascara. I get so oily and sweaty easily everything just runs off my face so I don't even bother.

Pink Flip-Flops

I decided to try Pink Flip-Flops first from the Summer Brights collection by Barielle. It's a light neutral pink creme that feels slightly cool but I really can't decide. First coat was thin, the second coat dragged a little at the cuticles, so I wanted for it to be completely dry before the third coat.

Makeup Color Theory

Do you ever get lost in your makeup trying to match your makeup with the right blush or lipstick? I sure do. I hate when I have a great look and I want to top it off with a lip color and try five or six and none are what I want. Half the time I just use chapstick and leave it be.

I saw this video that has really helped me understand warm and cool colors. Even if you know color theory, it's a fun video that may present things in a different way. It's also helpful for all you nail polish addicts in terms of nail art and picking colors for manicures.

Moonshine

Did you think I was talking about alcohol?

Alas, I'm talking about Bare Minerals Moonshine shadow. Love the shadow, hate the applicator. I dumped the powder into a small container like the other shadows usually come in and use a brush to apply it to prevent all the fall out that is inherent in the sponge tipped spring loaded applicator.

Kristen

Happy July!

Here is a throwback to my long nail days! I found this one sitting in my drafts folder - all watermarked and everything. I showed it layered in this post, but it seems I completely forgot to show you the actual polish.

Zoya Kristen is a soft baby blue that leans slightly gray making it very comfortable. Reminds me of cool winter nights and long soft sweaters. Do nail polishes conjure up memories or emotions in you? Some do to me, and this is one of them!
