Sugarland

This is a different EOTD today. And it's going to be a wordy post. Scroll down if you're already bored. =P

I'm sure you can tell in all my eye pictures that I wear contacts. Occasionally, I'll stop wearing them for awhile and go back to my glasses. I wear the extended wear contacts, so I only change them about once a month, so it's always a challenge doing eye makeup with glasses. Colors change, don't show up, look weird behind frames, etc. So I think I'm going to start trying to do more makeup with my glasses on because I think this can be a challenge for some.

First some regular EOTD pictures. I really like the combo here. The eyeshadow is a pink/purple with golden shimmer and the blue liner really makes the colors appear more bold.

This isn't a fancy EOTD look, it was what I had been wearing to work for a couple days and thought I'd share that purple eyeshadow and blue liner can be worn during the day. Colorful eye makeup doesn't have to be overpowering or time consuming.

With my love of neutral and light makeup, a lot of times it gets lost behind frames. I wear thicker, plastic frames and generally they are a blue or purple. This makeup was bold enough to show behind strong frames but didn't look too overpowering or dramatic for day wear.

Like my rhinestones on the side of the frame? I had to have some bling! I had such a hard time trying to get a picture without reflections in those glasses!

Products Used:
Nars Duo Sugarland (gilded orchid pink color)

Here are some tips I've picked up along the way for makeup with glasses:
  • If you have thicker frames (like mine) use bold colors. Not necessarily bright or dark, just bold. They need to show up behind the frames.
  • If you wear colored frames, using that same color will bring it out in your makeup
  • If your prescription corrects distance (myopia - what I have) it will make your eyes appear smaller. See in my picture how inside the frame my cheek regresses a little? That's fine but I already have small eyes and these make them appear a little smaller. I have a very minimal correction, but those who have a larger correction will notice it more. Use enlarging techniques for your makeup behind those lenses - big lashes, lining the outer corners of the eyes, inner corner highlight, etc. to brighten and enlarge
  • If your prescription corrects for closeup (hyperopia) your eyes will appear bigger. If that's what you want, awesome. If not, try more defining eye makeup, such as tightlining, lining your entire eye, darker colors/more shading, etc. to define your eye more.

Any ideas/suggestions/tips for makeup with ladies who wear glasses? Are ya'll interested in seeing EOTD with glasses or could you not care less? =D

  4. THANK YOU for doing a post like this. I wear contacts most of the time, but I have glasses I wear when I have to. I'm almost blind so my lenses are so thick that make my eyes look tiiiiny, like you said. these are great make up tips for those of us with glasses! I don't know anyone else doing this. Thanks!

    1. Thanks!! I don't know of anyone else either and I know it's a pain for me when I switch back and forth because makeup behind glasses is an art unto itself. I'm glad you found it helpful. I'll def try to more in the future!
