On a side note, when I was at the store the other day, I was looking at nail polish (surprise, I know!) and I saw a fun shimmery yellow nail polish on display. Yellow isn't normally my thing, but I don't have many (now that is surprising) and so I thought, why not?
Here's a quick look at the colors in their new Trend Setter Collection ...

L'Oreal Colour Riche Trend Setter Tweet Me bright yellow that has a drop of orange with orange shimmer.
Gorgeous polish. If the formula wasn't so wonky.
So this manicure has a long history. I started with three coats. But it was an uneven, streaky mess.... So I added a fourth coat and top coat, determined to show you guys this polish is pretty but totally high maintenance. Today I woke up and just couldn't take pictures... So I added a fifth coat. And top coat. And this is what you see...

It's a nice bright polish, and it makes my white hands look like they have some color, but you can still see a visible nail line, streaks, bald spots ... Sigh. I've heard about yellows having bad formulas, but sheesh! I'm so sad. I was trying to deal but dude, this is redonkulous.
On a happy note, I got TONS of compliments on this at work. Most people said it looked nice on my skin tone and others liked it imply because it's bright and spring-y. I didn't realize yellow would be such a crowd pleaser.
Other than a formula from hell, dry time was OK, and it lasted five days before I got a big chip - which is a death sentence for this polish since you can't fix it easily. I have another polish from the same line (VIP status and Grecian Goddess), and I'm hoping the wonky formula is because this is a yellow and not the formula of all their polishes!
Maybe it needs "underwear?" What is the preferred underwear for yellow? White? An opaque nude or pink? Or just a foundation base coat (like butter LONDON's)?
you have such lovely manicured nails! x
ReplyDeleteI love the yellow! What a happy color.
ReplyDeleteYellows can be a problem, for sure. I wore the dusty green from this line and didn't have issues, so I'd say the yellow is the culprit here.
ReplyDeleteI love this yellow though! I have AVON's Nailwear Pro polish in Sunshine and I think it is the first yellow that I own that doesn't streak
ReplyDeleteI have this clumpy yellow from Wet&Wild (Shine collection) and it is about the worst thing ever. I didn't know it was a yellow thing - that's kind of more disappointing than just a crappy formula-d collection/brand.
ReplyDeleteI love it! And it looks good on you! I can't believe you did 5 coats and it still lasted that long :D amazing ;)
ReplyDeleteBut yellow polishes just don't work, I own two and they're both streaky as hell. I really don't get it :D
Nice color, but five coats is at least three to much!
ReplyDeleteI am normally not attracted to yellow polishes, but have been lately. Tweet me looks pretty, but its not my shade, thankfully, because I couldn't handle painting five coats. Btw, I was looking at the old ben and Jerry's ice cream book the other day and there is a recipe for homemade fried ice cream. I will not be making it, for fear that it will be so simple that I would be tempted to make it all the time.
ReplyDeletePretty yellow but all yellows take so many coats of polish. So annoying!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this yellow! so bright & springy! you did a great job capturing the shimmer, too.
ReplyDeletei love this yellow! specially that gold sheen in it! this is a keeper!!/Azure
ReplyDeletethat is pretty - too bad its a 5 coater. yikes. try white underwear or maybe find the new sinful colors firefly, its a much more opaque yellow, as a base.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty yellow polish!
ReplyDeleteIm bummed to hear this has formula issues, Ive read that a few others from this line have similar formula issues :( shame because they are such gorgeous colours.
ReplyDeleteOPI Need Sunglasses? Is the best yellow, I wear it often and get buckets of compliments everytime I wear it and the formula isnt a red hot mess.
