I've decided to interrupt your regularly scheduled programming for some GLITTER. I received these recently and I've been itching to test them out! I had been stalking my usual nail sites and it wasn't in, so I caved and bought it them on eBay. (I know, I know, smack my hand.) But I was super excited when I got this package. I had to sit on my hands to keep from clapping.

When I tried swatching this color awhile back, it was sprinkling outside so I decided to swatch a color that didn't need a lot of sun, so please ignore the droplets on the polish! Haha. I didn't spit on myself I swear. And my nails are still rounded, I'm cleaning out old pictures as I'm enjoying my manicures a few days at a time now. =)

China Glaze Swing Baby is from the Vintage Vixen Collection and is a fantastic light brown golden foil. It reflects beautifully and went on very smooth.

Quick Fix It for Sheet Marks + Haul!

So when I put on Essie Sand Tropaz (second time wearing, and no swatches, darn!) I tried a different topcoat than my usual Seche Vite. I let it dry for an hour (maybe longer, I swearz) which I thought it was long enough, and then went to bed. And this happened ...

Week 9: "Vintage" Mani

I'm back with Week 9 of the 52 Week Challenge. This week is "Vintage" mani. To be honest, I had to google this one too, because I wasn't sure what it meant. I also am not sure I did the right style, but I just kinda went with it! Hopefully I'm not too far off. Ahaha.

So I did this first one with Milani Totally Cool, and I used the hole reinforcement stickers for both the half moon and tips with Sally Hansen Celeb City. It was pretty messy, but I thought it looked cool. I snapped a quick pic in case my next attempt was worse, which it was!

I'm so thankful the weekend is here! It's been a rough week. I'm glad to have a little R&R and chill out at home. I have a vacation coming up soon and I'm counting down the days!

Anyhow, onto the polish! I had meant to show this lovely polish earlier, but I just got around to actually putting it on.  I was perusing the shelves of a local store and saw this, and loved it so much I grabbed two, one for me and one for a giveaway!

Milani Totally Cool is a gorgeous smokey sheer purple base with tons of magenta shimmer. In the shade it looks like a dark, vampy purple (not black appearing) but when the light hits it, it shines magenta! Gorgeous. I love it. Very unassuming with a wow factor.

And yes, I did round my nails. I thought I'd try it. I'm not sure if I like it. It makes my small nails look even smaller... But it's nice to mix things up a bit.

Color Club Ulterior Motive

I was in the mood for something fun and bright, so I grabbed this beauty. Color Club Ulterior Motive is a magenta with purple shimmer. So bright and eye catching. It's gorgeous!

Boy, do I love me some purple polish. Especially when it's dark and intense.

Now you know what I'm gonna say. I'm gonna say it anyway, so we both know, but it photographed more blue than purple. Sigh. Someone tell me how to fix this!

A-England Lady of the Lake

I got a package from llarowe and one of the polishes was this beauty!

A-England Lady of the Lake is a beautiful dark purple holographic polish. It applies beautifully in just one coat. It shines beautifully.

Kat Von D came out with some cool new polishes, so I grabbed them as soon as I saw them on the Sephora.com website. KVD does have four polishes out, but they only had three, so three it was! Yellow isn't really my thing anyway.

Color Club Worth The Risque

Another holo that's not Milani. Haha. It's Color Club Worth the Risque. It's from their Femme Fatale collection, which I have a number of because it's a super duper cool collection!

Color Club Worth The Risque is a silver holo. It's a plain silver shimmer in the shade, but in sunlight it really comes out to play (like most holos). This one isn't super holo or linear by any means, but it's a neat polish that most people have access to, so I'd recommend getting it!

Orchid Polishes Swatches + Review

Orchid is a new brand (to me, you can read about them on the grocery stores website here) I found recently while out of town. I seem to have developed a new hobby - stalking local stores while out of town for new or hard to find polishes. It's been fun.

So back to topic ... Orchid is a brand I happened across with a huge amount of polish. The cashier and bagger both mentioned they liked the colors and hadn't seen them before. I chose four that caught my eye. No glitters (sad) but I got four shimmers, which is almost as good.

I know Valentine's is over, but I can't stop myself. I still want more pink! What's wrong with me?

At least it's a pink holo - very cool. I previously showed you guys my collection of the Milani 3D Holographic nail polishes, but now I'm focusing on the pretty pink one - Digital.

China Glaze Knotty

China Glaze Knotty is a color from China Glaze's Anchors Away collection. It is a yellow-based beige with pink and green shimmer. The shimmer is hardly noticeable except in strong light, and even then, you have to really look to notice the colors. It's a light neutral, work appropriate color. I did three coats and still had a slight visible nail line, but I stop at three coats for any polish. Formula was good (as always for China Glaze), coverage was sheer, and removal was standard for non-glitter polish.

Sally Hansen Must-Have Iris

Continuing with some pink nails ... 

Sally Hansen has come out with some cool new colors - all wedding related, it seems - but I don't get this one. Must-Have Iris? Am I missing something? Aside from the strange (to me) name, it's a cool color. 

Sally Hansen Must-Have Iris is a sheer, pinkish purple with fine shimmer. It is sheer at first, but builds nicely. Three coats give you opacity. The strange thing about this color is that it's so delicate but when you have something dark near your nails, it brightens and really calls for attention.

I'm trying to stay in theme with pinks and reds, so here is none other than Hits Speciallita No Olimpo Ares! I had some sun so I thought I'd check this one out!

Hits Speciallita No Olimpo Ares is a gorgeous intense red holographic polish. It's beautiful, and opaque in two coats, which is perfect because I don't want to waste a drop!

White and Black Heart Flower Nail Art

I have been watching some videos for how to do one stroke flowers on youtube and I thought I'd give it a try over my existing manicure (going on day 3 without chipping, yay!). I know this isn't perfect, but I really like how it turned out, so I wanted to share it with you! It's more ... impressionistic, but I thought I'd share it! I think my middle finger turned out best. I used white and black, and then added a little glitter (I'm so predictable) to the center. I've gotten a TON of compliments on this! Unfortunately, I only did my left hand. I still have to work on my right hand =)

This is the first Orly polish I've worn as a manicure, and I must say I'm impressed. I grabbed this while at Sally's the other day with my 15% off coupon, so I was grabbing all kinds of random things I didn't need. This looked like an interesting color, and I love it, so I'm so glad I did! And I figured I'd wear it since it's getting closer to Valentine's, and what better time to wear pink!

Happy February! I can't believe January is already over...

I got a random assortment of polishes the other day in the mail, and I was waiting for sunlight to play with them! Here we have our first polish player, and my first swatches of a Hits polish!

Hits Speciallita No Olimpo Poseidon is a beautiful light blue holographic nail polish. Lovely blue polish with minimal holo in darker rooms, but in the sunlight it really shines.

The pictures are four coats with no topcoat. There is still a minimal visible nail line, so it would probably be best layered over an opaque polish. I wanted to see what it would be like on its own, but in the future I'll layer it.
